Members of the 13th Circuit Wide Committee on a June 2026 meeting accepted meeting minutes, monthly bills and a semiannual report after staff reviewed juvenile and adult probation caseloads and detailed budget line items.
Susan, the committee’s probation statistics presenter, reported May figures: LaSalle County had 71 active juvenile cases (eight administrative), Bureau County 21 (one administrative) and Grundy County 14 (zero administrative), for a circuit juvenile active caseload of 106 and 115 juveniles on probation. On adults, she reported a circuit total adult active caseload of 723, administrative cases of 517 and 1,240 people on probation.
The committee approved routine motions recorded during the meeting: a motion to accept last month’s minutes (moved by Mary Jane Marini, seconded by Bill) and a motion to accept the department report (moved by Jim, seconded by Geette); both motions carried with no opposition recorded. The committee also voted to accept the monthly bills for payment; specific tallies were not recorded in the transcript.
Staff also outlined county bill totals and notable line items: LaSalle County May bills totaled $3,159.80 (including drug-testing supplies and client services); Bureau County $1,148.58 (with a $3,300 aid-to-children bill and a remaining balance of $246,700 in that account); and Grundy County’s packet included a $6,975 bill from the River Valley Detention Center. The staff presentation noted vehicle maintenance (brakes, transmission fluid) and upcoming software-maintenance bills as items likely to increase expenditures later in the fiscal year.
On semiannual budget figures (Dec. 1, 2025–May 31, 2026), staff reported circuit totals for adult probation ordered amounts and collections (ordered to date $92,100; collected to date $33,327.80) and reiterated that court-ordered placements can quickly raise costs. The committee moved to accept the semiannual report (motion by Jim; second by Geette); the motion carried.
Staff flagged reimbursements returned from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC), reporting that $97,256.50 was claimed and $96,399.41 was received, with fair-share allocations to the counties. The committee was told contingency plans exist should state grant funding be reduced.
The meeting closed with scheduling notes (next meeting July 8 at 10:00 a.m.) and a motion to adjourn (moved by Bill; seconded by Jim). No public comments were recorded.
Ending: The committee’s next meeting is scheduled for July 8 at 10:00 a.m.; members said they will complete further semiannual budget reviews at upcoming county meetings.
