The City of Conway Community Appearance Board voted to approve a certificate of appropriateness for signage proposed by Innovate Real Estate at 314 Laurel Street Unit A. A board member moved to approve the application as submitted and the motion carried by voice vote; individual tallies were not recorded.
A city staff member turned the presentation over to Nancy Alvarez, who described the proposal: a painted 2-inch HDU hanging bracket sign, measured at approximately 7.7 square feet and fixed to the wall with an arm bracket, plus a logo applied to the entry door measured at about 3.33 square feet (with door coverage cited as roughly 4.6 square feet). Alvarez told the board the renderings show colors that correspond with the company’s trademark logo and stated the proposed signage is currently compliant with the city’s UDO.
Board members asked about placement and visual impact. Members noted the proposed hanging sign would sit about 12 feet above the ground; Alvarez and others observed the UDO specifies a minimum height of 8 feet and the board did not identify a maximum height in discussion. One board member asked the applicant’s architect, Troy, if the height would be a problem; Troy replied, “No, I think it’ll look fine.” Other members commented favorably on the sign’s dimensional design and the lack of alternative mounting options beneath the awning.
Because the vote was taken by voice, the meeting record does not show a roll-call or numeric tally. The board approved the application and indicated staff will place the approval into the record.
