Select Board approves Music Room hours extension, clears Longfellows ownership change

Two licensing items were resolved at the Select Board’s June 9 meeting.

Brian Serony, manager of the Music Room (SEG 1014), asked the board to align the venue’s alcohol license with its entertainment permit to allow earlier daytime opening (11 a.m.). Board members discussed prior compliance concerns with the licensee and emphasized training and an on-duty manager requirement. A board member said he was "hesitant" due to prior issues but had no grounds to deny the amendment; the board moved, seconded and approved the liquor-hours amendment (voice vote with one explicit hesitant statement recorded) (SEG 1090–1135).

Separately, the board considered a change of ownership and stock interest for Longfellows Pub (RCR Management Inc.) with the new owner identified in the application as Jame C Roy of South Yarmouth (SEG 1160–1166). No correspondence had been received and staff reported the applicant had previously obtained other required approvals. The board closed the hearing and unanimously approved the application.

Both decisions were taken after public hearings; no public speakers opposed either application during the meeting.

What’s next: licensees must comply with training, staffing, and regulatory requirements; the town’s licensing staff will update records and enforce compliance as needed.
