Clerk Renee read the public notice and summarized key items listed for forthcoming council consideration.
The notice set the council to consider calling an election for Dec. 12, 2026, to renew three ad valorem taxes for: maintenance of public buildings/streets/bridges; maintenance of playgrounds and recreation centers and equipment; and to fund pay increases and starting salaries for police, fire, public works and other departments and to maintain a three‑platoon police system. The clerk also summarized multiple public‑hearing demolition orders for specific properties (including 1517 Martha Street and others named in the packet).
Staff presented a resolution authorizing the city to pursue sewer financing: a loan not to exceed $15 million principal from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to be evidenced by a sewer revenue note and loan agreement; the resolution would also authorize publication and submission to the State Bond Commission. Council did not take final action on these items during the agenda meeting; they remain on the forthcoming regular meeting agenda for formal consideration.
