At the June 9 administrative workshop the Josephine County Board of Commissioners approved multiple personnel actions presented by human-resources staff.
Mr. Shaw introduced a request to refill a vacant school outreach officer role in the county’s prevention and treatment services; Scott Hyde was introduced as the candidate for that backfill, and the board approved the refill by unanimous consent.
The board also approved hiring two parole-and-probation officers. Staff described one hire as a transfer from Coos County with 14 years of law-enforcement experience (11 years in parole and probation) and full certifications; the other is an interdepartmental transfer from the sheriff's office that will be placed at a pay step required by county policy so the employee does not lose pay. Staff said these hires are a strong fit for the department and approved them without objection.
The district attorney’s office introduced a department specialist (Maria) to handle front-desk reception, routing calls, processing discovery payments and creating office calendars; the board left that personnel matter with the office for finalization. Separately, staff noted transit will reduce one position from full-time (1.0 FTE) to part-time (0.5 FTE) and that a treasurer appointment was pulled when the candidate withdrew.
No budget amendments were reported on the record during the meeting; the hires proceed under existing budgeted positions and applicable county hiring policies.
