Sisters Samantha and Megan Pender presented Shore Break, a beach‑themed mobile coffee trailer, to the Scituate Select Board on June 9 and were granted a hawker (peddler) license pending board-of-health and other standard approvals.
Samantha said the business partners with local roasters and the trailer will offer specialty lattes, matcha sourced via a local resident importer and prepackaged bakery items. She told the board the health inspection had been completed and that the business planned limited hours to avoid competing with established lunch operations.
The board moved to approve a new hawker/peddler license for Samantha and Megan Pender for multiple locations including Pebble, Egypt, Minet and the Lighthouse (as read into the record), with hours listed in the application and subject to approvals from the board of health and the library/recreation for the use of library blocks.
Members also discussed the town’s hawker policy and caps on the number of food and ice-cream vendors in town; staff said they would double-check current policy limits and upcoming applications.
