Select Board approves Knights of Columbus carnival permit for July 7–11

Carl Moore, Grand Knight and carnival co‑chair, and Michael James, deputy Grand Knight, requested a permit for the Knights of Columbus annual carnival scheduled for July 7–11. They told the board the layout is the same as last year, the event features a Red‑White‑Blue theme for America’s 250th and a fireworks show that will be 25% larger than prior years.

Board members asked about parking, tides and coordination with merchants; organizers said they coordinate timing around low tides and typically start evening activities at 6 p.m., which minimizes disruption to daytime businesses. The board moved to approve the special‑event permit for the expanded footprint on Cole Parkway, contingent on required inspections and standard public‑safety measures.

No dissent was recorded; organizers thanked the board and said they would coordinate with town staff on set‑up and inspections.
