Board approves audit contract and supplemental budget changes; delays $143,000 impact-aid transfer

The Mobridge-Pollock School District 62-6 Board of Education approved a year-end audit contract and moved forward with most supplemental budget items while postponing a planned impact-aid transfer.

The board authorized K Hill Bower Associates to perform the district’s annual audit for $21,000. The motion to approve the audit proposal was moved by Dustin, seconded by Lisa and adopted by voice vote.

On the supplemental budget, board members agreed to remove the proposed $250,000 middle school roof supplement from the operating amendments because the roof timing likely extends into the next fiscal year. The board then approved the remainder of the proposed supplemental budget.

Separately, members debated a proposed operating transfer of $143,000 from impact aid into the general fund. Citing timing and uncertainty about near-term need, the board voted to approve operating transfers with the $143,000 transfer removed; the measure carried by voice vote.

Business manager Kim told the board that food-service participation this summer is lower than initial estimates and that Title I reimbursement claims (about $34,000 worth) are pending coding and budget adjustments. The board directed staff to finalize June expenditures and report back before any further transfers.
