Council reopens hearing on vet clinic zoning petition then tables item to June 22

The council reopened the public hearing on a petition from James O'Brien DVM seeking to rezone 3147 Bonham Street from a single-family-dwelling (SF2) district to general retail (GR) with a specific-use permit for a large-animal veterinary clinic. Staff (Mr. Almensa) reminded the council the case had been heard May 11 and was tabled to allow the applicant and neighborhood residents to talk.

After a brief staff recap, the council completed the procedural steps required to remove the item from the table and immediately moved to table it again until the June 22 meeting because of a scheduling conflict. Council noted the tabling procedure avoids republishing and saves the city more than $1,000. The item will remain open for comment until the June 22 meeting, and no further testimony was taken at this session.

The action was procedural and recorded as a council motion carried by voice vote (5-0). The council directed staff to continue facilitating dialogue between the applicant and neighborhood residents before the next hearing date.
