The Galena Park Independent School District Board of Trustees elected board officers and approved several personnel and consent items during its June 8, 2026 meeting.
After returning from executive session, Adrian Stevens moved and Norma Hernandez seconded a motion to elect Linda Sherrard as board president; the motion carried 4–0 with no abstentions. Stevens then moved, Hernandez seconded the election of Jose Jimenez as vice president and Amanda Arellano as secretary; both motions carried 4–0.
The board also approved the employment of contractual personnel and authorized a written contract permitting administrators to receive a financial benefit for providing services outside the district. Those motions were moved and seconded on the record and carried without recorded abstentions.
Later in the regular meeting the board considered routine consent business. Adrian Stevens moved and Norma Hernandez seconded approval of the general consent agenda, which passed 5–0 with no abstentions. Norma Hernandez moved and Adrienne/Adrien(n)e Stephens seconded the construction consent agenda; that motion also passed 5–0. The board then began consideration of the financial consent agenda, with a motion to approve made by Linda Sherrard; the transcript ends while that item is under consideration.
Votes and movers were recorded on the public record for each motion. The board also recorded for the public that trustees Jose Jimenez (Position 5), Noe Esparza (Position 6) and Norma Hernandez (Position 7) had been duly qualified and completed the oath of office prior to the meeting.
The board took no controversial substantive policy votes at this session; most actions were officer elections, personnel confirmations, and routine consent items. Further details for any individual consent-agenda item would be available in the board packet and posted minutes.
The board is scheduled to return for additional budget and adoption actions in August and for tax-rate adoption in October.
