Board reduces land value after deed/plat acreage correction

Gregory W. Ferris presented a property-condition appeal and questioned how his parcel’s acreage was recorded. Assessor staff said a recorded plat shows the parcel is approximately 1.025 acres, not the two acres listed in tax records; correcting the acreage reduced the land value from about $113,300 to $99,800 and lowered the total assessment to $433,500.

Mr. Ferris described deferred maintenance, flood repairs and aging systems; assessors inspected the property and agreed the parcel acreage on record required correction. The board voted unanimously to accept the assessor’s acreage correction and the resulting assessment change.
