St. Francis Area Schools board approves election call and population certification; discusses summer meeting schedule

The St. Francis Area Schools board voted unanimously on June 8 to call a school district general election to fill three four‑year board seats and to certify updated district population estimates required for the 2026 payable and 2027 revenue calculations.

During the consideration of the election resolution, a board member reported that the candidate filing period will run July 14–28. The board adopted the election resolution by roll call, 6–0. The population certification resolution was approved by a separate roll‑call vote, also 6–0; administrators present answered procedural questions but no substantive debate was recorded.

Board members also discussed changing meeting frequency in the summer months. One member proposed holding one meeting per month in summer; the superintendent and staff said they would review calendar and human‑resources considerations, prepare a recommended schedule and bring it back for board review before the board’s January meeting.
