Zoning committee approves working draft; board to consider draft June 22

The village zoning committee completed a line‑by‑line review of a working draft of the zoning code and recommended the draft be presented to the full board at the June 22 meeting.

Committee members reported they reviewed public comments, made only a few amendments and ran numeric checks on coverage and dimensional standards. One committee member highlighted modeling that showed how a 50% lot‑coverage rule would affect lot sizes and encouraged careful consideration of numerical thresholds. Trustees discussed whether to begin the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) process at the presentation or to delay until they have more time to vet the draft with the village attorney; several members urged caution to avoid premature filings that would require rework if major changes follow.

The board agreed to place the zoning presentation on the June 22 agenda and asked trustees and committee members to attend. The board also discussed scheduling additional July/August meetings as needed to accommodate public hearings and further zoning work.
