Commissioners approved two agreements to accept Golden Triangle grant funding to clean and stabilize bridge approaches on Hornsby Road and Grimley Road, including installing fabric barriers and rock to reduce sediment washing into creeks. Staff said the project will be fully funded by the grant and will not cost the county out of pocket.
The board also approved a list of county roadways for radar signage and signed related documents. Commissioners then discussed a countywide ditching and shoulder-clipping plan after numerous drainage complaints, with road staff describing current work pacing and plans to prioritize paved roads scheduled for paving.
Road staff said they are averaging roughly one mile of work a day, are coordinating with landowners for appropriate spoil sites, and plan to present a multi-week schedule to commissioners at the next meeting. Commissioners asked staff to produce a timeline showing how long it will take to systematically clip and ditch county-maintained paved roads and to return with that plan.
The board authorized the chairman to sign the Golden Triangle maintenance and grant-administration agreements; staff will coordinate project timing with the grant administrator and confirm any maintenance responsibilities.
