The Board of Trustees agreed to have the personnel committee review all staff job descriptions and return a cleaned and redlined set for the board to consider at its July meeting.
At the meeting the director explained the review process: union-covered positions (including some assistant and clerk roles) are governed by collective bargaining, so any proposed changes would come through union negotiation channels and then to the director; non-union positions would be revised by staff and submitted as recommendations to the director’s office. She offered to share a template of category headers and a preferred format to make comparative review easier.
Trustees asked for both clean and redline versions to help speed review, and agreed the personnel committee would meet to coordinate a consolidated review. The director enumerated job classifications on the record: Amy (assistant director/tech services), Ryan and Dan (principal clerks), Teresa and Nancy (library aide I, part-time), Robin (library aide II, non-union), and John (maintenance, union). Trustees also discussed whether positions that split hours across town functions (previously shared roles) warranted separate descriptions.
What happens next: personnel committee to schedule meetings, use a common template and circulate redline and clean versions for trustee review in July. Union-change recommendations will follow collective-bargaining procedures when applicable.
