Cranberry Blossom Festival set for June 181 in Wisconsin Rapids; organizers preview carnival, concerts and cultural events

Chamber representatives Stacy and Lacy said the Cranberry Blossom Festival will run June 181 across multiple downtown venues in Wisconsin Rapids, featuring a carnival, an aqua-ski water show, "Cinema under the Stars," concerts at McMillan and a broad schedule of vendor and community events.

"It kickstarts the whole day with Lunch by the River," Lacy said, noting roughly 17 organizations are coordinating separate events during the four-day festival. She described the festival as a long-standing community tradition that spotlights local businesses, artists and nonprofits.

Organizers listed several headline attractions: a carnival that opens Thursday, a water-ski performance, an outdoor movie screening projected downtown, and multiple music performances including local artists. Saturday is expected to be the event's busiest day, with organizers estimating about 90 vendors on West Grand Avenue and an expanded farmers market running 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The festival will include cultural programming: McMillan will host a Ho-Chunk cultural event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring demonstrations and food, an opportunity organizers said will both educate visitors and honor the Ho-Chunk Nation whose land the community now occupies. "They do a really good job of it," Stacy said of the cultural partners.

Volunteers are central to running the festival. Speakers urged residents and student volunteers to sign up with local nonprofits and noted that volunteer service also benefits students seeking recognition for school programs: "For Lincoln, it's 100 hours," one guest said.

The festival also integrates fundraising and community groups: pancake breakfasts, a Berry Fest raffle hosted by the Wisconsin Rapids Lioness, and benefit events tied to local service groups.

Organizers asked residents to consult the Chamber and festival websites for full schedules and safety notices: wisconsinrapidschamber.com and blossomfest.com. They also reminded attendees to support participating small businesses and sponsors, who help underwrite the weekend's activities.

The Chamber said the festival will conclude with a Sunday parade that begins at city hall and proceeds past Ninth Street. Attendees were encouraged to bring chairs and come early to support vendors and participants.
