The Glen Ridge Mayor and Council on a unanimous roll call approved a package of routine financial and licensing measures, adopted a personnel-salary ordinance and authorized tax-collection steps during their June meeting.
Councelor Leco moved Resolution 98-26, the bills list, which authorizes payment of claims and warrants including $686,921 drawn from the current fund; the motion was seconded and carried by roll call. Councillor Lewoods then moved Resolution 99-26 authorizing the tax collector to prepare and issue estimated third-quarter 2026 tax bills; speakers noted the state budget is not yet final and estimated bills may be slightly adjusted when that process finishes. That motion also passed on roll call.
The council adopted Ordinance 1837 on final reading, establishing titles for nonunion employees and fixing 2026 maximum annual salaries and other compensation. During the hearing members said a primary intent is to increase crossing-guard pay to improve recruitment; no public comment was received and the ordinance was adopted.
On licensing matters, the council approved renewals for three plenary retail distribution/consumption licenses: Ridge Bottle King (Resolution 101-26), MCAP Incorporated trading as Glen Ridge Pharmacy & Liquors (Resolution 102-26), and Mayfield Tavern Partners (trading as Fitzgeralds) (Resolution 103-26). The record notes a potential conflict in the Fitzgeralds matter: Bernard Brewster, listed as principal, is married to Elizabeth Burster, the borough’s municipal prosecutor. Borough staff reported the license application file is in good standing and that payment and records are complete, but final approval remains with the Director of the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control under state law; the council moved and recorded the resolution consistent with that guidance.
All motions listed above carried on roll-call votes recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council closed both public-comment periods with no speakers and adjourned after routine closing business.
