Glen Ridge officials on Tuesday approved a package of capital and procurement measures to support public-works projects and fleet replacement.
Councelor Triiano reported recent storm and tree responses by public works and introduced Ordinance 1838 on second reading and final adoption, appropriating $300,000 for capital improvements and equipment: $250,000 designated for engineering/public-works vehicles, equipment and projects, and $50,000 for public-safety equipment. The public hearing on the ordinance drew no speakers and the council adopted the measure on final vote.
The council also approved Resolution 104-26 to join a cooperative pricing system administered by an educational-services commission (county name is inconsistent in the transcript). Borough officials said participation is free and can yield cost savings on equipment purchases; an example given at the workshop was an estimated $25,000 savings on a large truck purchase.
Resolution 105-26 authorizes the mayor and clerk to submit a New Jersey Department of Transportation municipal-aid grant application for road improvements on Sunset Avenue, Forest Avenue and Oakwood Avenue; officials said successful applications are queued for 2027 work. That resolution passed by roll call.
To replace a 2016 Chevy 350, the council approved Resolution 106-26 to purchase a 2027 Ford F-450 Mason dump truck via cooperative procurement from a dealer participating in a Morris County cooperative. The purchase price cited in the meeting was $94,632, to be funded from the capital-appropriation ordinance (Ordinance 1838).
All procurement and grant-authorizing motions carried on roll-call votes recorded in the meeting minutes; staff were directed to proceed with cooperative purchasing and grant submission processes.
