Staff provided a roundup of capital and program updates for Oshkosh City parks, including historic signage, trail lighting, zoo work, volunteer projects and summer events.
On signage, staff said a new graphic designer in the museum team is revising visuals for long‑planned historic signs at Lakeshore Park and the golf course; research and content are complete but visual work and archival image processing remain. Staff said they expect production and installation to follow once designs are finalized.
Bruce Park trail lighting bases will be installed in the coming weeks and staff plan asphalt reconstruction on a segment between Foxtail Lane and the original trail. The zoo’s maintenance building restoration is scheduled to begin around the last week of June to prepare for mural installations later in summer or early fall.
Staff highlighted a successful volunteer tree‑planting project at Pickard Park: volunteers planted 39 trees along the park’s south end and staff showed drone footage documenting the work. Multiple local organizations and volunteer groups were thanked for their efforts.
Recreation updates included the new Monomony Park train, which staff said is averaging about 330 riders per day and carried roughly 2,562 visitors in the first seven and a half days (transcript figures). Staff said daily keeper chats, Wild Wednesdays and other programs are scheduled through the summer and encouraged the public to consult the city program guide.
Staff also noted recent operational challenges at the Pollock Community Water Park on opening day; the police department and staff are reviewing an incident that drew public attention. The meeting closed after a brief volunteer‑recognition preview and a motion to adjourn.
