The Lawrence County Salary Board unanimously approved Resolution 26 on June 5, restructuring clerical staffing in the commissioners’ office following the retirement of the deputy chief clerk.
The county administrator presented the proposal, saying the long-serving deputy chief clerk retired and the office is effectively down to ‘‘one and a half’’ staff. He recommended eliminating the deputy chief clerk position and creating an office manager at a base salary of $41,000 and an office support coordinator at a base salary of $40,000. The administrator said duties would be split between the two new roles, administrative rights would be extended to multiple staff for online processes, and the reorganization would save approximately $10,799 annually compared with the prior staffing model.
Commissioner Kennedy asked about the effective timing; the administrator said the office changes would take effect following the meeting and favored starting at the beginning of a new pay period. Board members discussed the need to grant administrative rights to multiple staff so online purchasing and approval workflows could continue if personnel were absent.
After a motion and second, the board voted by roll call: Controller pressify — yes; Commissioner Sonado — yes; Commissioner Kennedy — yes; Commissioner Vogler — yes. The motion carried.
Human-resources staff said they will process the deletions and hires after receiving the approved resolution. The meeting then closed with no public comment and the board’s unanimous vote to adjourn.
The resolution does not specify particular incumbents for the new posts or a timeline for filling them beyond standard HR processing steps.
