The Clayton County Veterans’ Affairs meeting on May 11, 2026 approved the board minutes and the fiscal year 2025–26 budget and reviewed local service activity and staffing needs.
Veterans Service Officer Jordan reported that the office’s annual budget for 2025–26 is $102,019.00, with $16,478.78 spent during the month and 27.11% of the budget remaining. Commissioner Laughead moved to approve the budget; Commissioner Eilers seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Jordan also presented the May activity report showing 31 veteran‑related calls, 22 office visits, one outreach event and one training during the month. Commissioners discussed operational needs, including an advertisement placed in the Press Times Register and Trader for additional drivers for the Clayton County veteran van; two applicants have indicated interest and are awaiting approval from the commission.
On procedural matters, the meeting opened with roll call (Commissioners Eilers, Laughead and Torkelson and Veterans Service Officer Jordan present) and Commissioner Eilers moved to approve the April 14, 2026 minutes; Commissioner Laughead seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The agenda included review and approval of claims but the minutes do not list specific claims.
