After returning from a closed executive session, the Argyle ISD board moved on action items including a plan to fill a vacant Place 7 seat and a resolution authorizing real-property negotiation and contracting.
The board discussed a vacancy in Place 7 following the resignation of Josh Westerm and reviewed the options in state law. In accordance with the Texas Education Code, when more than a year remains in a vacated term the board may appoint an individual to fill the seat until the next trustee election or call a special election. The board approved a motion to appoint an individual to fill Place 7 at the June 15, 2026 board meeting and to place the seat on the May 2027 trustee-election ballot to fill the remainder of the unexpired term; Trustee Slayton moved and Trustee Frank Dixon seconded the motion, which passed with assent and no recorded opposition.
Liz Stewart introduced a resolution authorizing the superintendent to "negotiate and put us under contract for land" and to execute instruments for purchase of real property for district use. Trustee Slayton moved to approve item 8B and Trustee Rich McDow seconded; the board voted in favor and approved the resolution.
Board members were advised that community members interested in an appointment for Place 7 should email the board president for an application; the board will consider qualified candidates at its regular June 15 meeting. The meeting adjourned at 8:06 p.m.
