Three Lakes School District staff announced that the district began a concentrated week of summer construction the week of June 1, after packing classroom contents and moving boxed materials into school gyms to clear teaching spaces.
District staff said that every classroom in the construction area was packed in recent weeks and that, at the end of May, all elementary students went on a field trip to the Podawatamy Center so teaching staff could remain to pack. "How many boxes does it take to pack up one classroom? The answer is a lot," the staff member said.
The update detailed progress at specific sites. At Three Lakes Elementary, the office renovation has finished drywall and painting and cabinetry has been installed; the speaker said the office "looks very much like an office." Work on older facilities includes completed drywall and plumbing in the 1950s-era bathrooms and the junior high bathroom. Staff said vents are being removed from the junior high area now that school is out so new walls can be completed.
At Sugar Camp, footings for planned additions are complete and staff reported that pre-cast walls will be erected next week; the speaker noted that the footprint of the new building is already visible at the site. "The summer slam is about to begin," the staff member said, summing up the district's schedule. The update closed with the remark, "And that wraps up this week as we continue improving the nest."
No funding sources, contract awards, or permit milestones were specified in the update, and no formal motions or votes were recorded during the briefing. The district noted construction sequencing and short-term logistics (student field trips, moving classroom contents into gyms) as the immediate next steps.
