The Jefferson County School Board approved several operational and capital items in new business, including a $170,000 transfer from fund balance for restroom upgrades and turf renovation at the high school baseball complex.
A staff member said the facilities and athletics staff provided cost estimates and explained that bids could not be solicited until the project was funded; the board agreed to transfer the funds to enable bidding and construction prior to the season. The motion to transfer $170,000 passed by voice vote.
A board member proposed adding digital message boards to the district’s capital improvements list to improve school communications; the speaker said seven schools currently lack such boards. The board asked staff to bring the proposal forward for formal consideration.
The board also approved the student nutrition price list for 2026–27; staff said the only changes were small increases for staff and visitor meals (a quarter increase). The student nutrition price approval was carried by voice vote.
The board announced a special called budget meeting on June 25 and then adjourned.
