The Harris County Board of Education reviewed the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget during a June 4 special session and scheduled a formal adoption vote for next week. Board presentations noted two public meetings on the budget (May 14 and June 4) and invited trustees to submit questions to staff before the vote.
Board member Mr. Barton, presenting the document, said staff believes the package "is a very solid budget" that will advance district priorities and thanked administrators and the finance team for their work. Finance director Miss Seahha and other staff were on hand to answer follow-up questions.
No members of the public signed up to speak during the FY27 public hearing, staff said. The board emphasized that any trustee with unresolved questions should consult district staff before next week's vote; Mr. Johnston and the chair were explicitly invited to do so. The district intends to vote to approve the FY27 budget at the board's next scheduled meeting.
The hearing also included routine procedural business and the board's agreement to reconvene the committee meeting after the special session. The budget presentation packet and the timeline for final review were made available to trustees in advance.
The board will take the formal budget adoption vote at its next meeting; staff will provide any requested clarifications before that vote.
