The Hillsborough Township Planning Board on July 4 approved a one‑year extension for Specialty Assayas Inc.'s minor site plan, allowing the company through July 10, 2027 to obtain outstanding outside approvals and finish conditions tied to an earlier approval.
At the hearing, applicant counsel Cara Kazinski said the remaining barrier is approval from the Delaware & Raritan Canal Commission and a completed stormwater facilities maintenance agreement required by town council. "We just need the extension of the time period so we can satisfy that condition," Kazinski said.
Board members opened the floor to public comment, heard none, and moved to approve the extension. The board recorded roll‑call support from multiple members and carried the motion.
Why it matters: the extension preserves the board's prior approvals while the applicant completes technical and outside‑agency steps that staff and the applicant identified as outstanding. The board noted that if outside agencies require changes that affect the current approvals the applicant must return for any needed amendments.
Next steps: the extension runs through July 10, 2027; staff will monitor submission of the DRCC approval and the stormwater maintenance agreement before the applicant pursues building permits or any substantive amendment.
