The Development Minute host said multiple private development projects are moving forward in Lee's Summit, including a Costco warehouse, the Ovation mixed-use community, a 7 Brew drive-thru and a 54 Draft House restaurant.
The most immediate project is a Costco being built at the southeast corner of 50 and 291. The presenter described Costco as a membership-based warehouse retailer offering bulk goods, groceries and services, and said the store marks phase one of the East Village development and is projected to open in late August.
A 7 Brew Drive-Thru Coffee is planned for the corner of 291 and Southeast 5th Street. According to the presenter, 7 Brew is a drive-thru beverage destination serving coffee, teas, energy drinks and smoothies; the project is in final development-plan and building-permit review.
Ovation, described as a master-planned mixed-use development at 150 and 291, is in the early stages of construction. The presenter said Ovation will include housing, commercial development and neighborhood amenities, with phase one targeted for completion this fall.
The presenter also reported that 54 Draft House is under construction in the new Oldham Village development (the next generation of 54 Street). The restaurant is described as offering updated spaces, drafts and dining and is slated to open this fall.
No formal city actions or vote results were announced in the segment; the presenter focused on project locations, brief descriptions and expected opening windows or permit status. Next steps referenced in the segment were permitting and construction timelines for the individual projects.
