Cindy Pritchard of Keep Oconee County Beautiful urged residents to secure items on vehicles ahead of Secure Your Load Day, saying loose cargo poses a safety risk to other road users and contributes to litter.

"Secure Your Load. June 6th is Secure Your Load Day and just brings awareness to the importance of securing your load for safety reasons," Pritchard said, asking drivers to tarp or strap loads on trucks, trailers and recreational wagons.

Pritchard said the practice protects other motorists and helps keep Oconee County clean. She suggested using straps, tarps or both, depending on the load, and reminded people that items like bikes and boats also need securing when transported. "And again, we would just like to thank you for helping us to keep Oconee County clean, green, beautiful, and safe," she said.

The comment was presented as a public appeal to raise awareness; no vote or formal action was recorded. Pritchard closed by thanking residents for helping maintain safety and cleanliness in Oconee County.
