At its June 4 meeting the St. Mary Parish School Board approved a package of revised job descriptions for coaching and maintenance positions, passed the Louisiana compliance questionnaire and audit resolution by roll-call vote, approved the consent agenda (including child nutrition bids and proclamations for Juneteenth and America 250), and scheduled a consolidated workshop for Aug. 8 to satisfy board education requirements.
Board staff explained the personnel revisions were intended to simplify responsibilities and ease paperwork for principals; they set several qualifications as "preferred" rather than required (for example, teaching certificates for coaches and commercial driver's licenses for certain roles) and removed expectations that some maintenance positions attend regional or national meetings. Mr. Mancuso moved and Mr. Anselm seconded approval of the job-description revisions; the motion carried.
Ms. Boaz asked the board to approve the Louisiana compliance questionnaires and an audit resolution required by the auditors. After the motion and second, the board took a roll-call vote: 10 yes, 1 absent. The vote was recorded in the transcript.
Ms. Wazan, the district chief financial officer, reported that year-to-date sales tax collections through April were 4% favorable and that April collections totaled $2.409 million, $71,000 over budget. Dr. Sanders proposed an Aug. 8 workshop to consolidate required board education, budget review and instructional updates to prepare members for the release of SPS accountability scores.
The board also recognized retirees and Manual Builders Foundation award winners during appearances; it later entered executive session under the transcript-cited Louisiana statute to discuss pending litigation.
