At its March 24 special meeting, the Town of Marlborough Nature Trails & Sidewalks Commission discussed new and ongoing trail projects, a volunteer workday, and a preservation society effort to map historic sites for America 250.
Russ Johnston said he purchased directional arrow signs to help users navigate a newly created trail on Ogden Lord Road and noted charcoal mounds encountered along the corridor. The commission announced a volunteer maintenance day to remove invasive plants on April 18, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the Blackledge trail.
Romano Ghirlanda of the Marlborough Preservation Society told the commission he is creating a map of historical sites tied to the town’s America 250 celebration and provided site locations to Peter Hughes so the map could be produced for April. Ghirlanda also said he is continuing to investigate whether the mill site by the Blackledge River trail belonged to the Loveland family; that inquiry was described as ongoing.
No formal votes or funding commitments for new trail construction or historical research were recorded in the minutes. The meeting record contains scheduling and coordination details but does not specify budgets, contractors, or final design approvals.
