Marlborough planning director outlines Cheney and Lake Road sidewalk project, work expected by November

Peter Hughes, Director of Planning and Development for the Town of Marlborough, told the Nature Trails & Sidewalks Commission on April 22 that the town will advertise a sidewalk project covering Cheney and Lake roads and a small extension from North Main Street to Chapman Road.

Hughes said the work will be advertised soon and the town estimates completion by November. He also reported that sidewalks in town “continue to get a lot of use,” noting pedestrian demand as part of the rationale for the improvements.

At the start of the meeting the commission approved minutes from its March 24 meeting. Rob Jepson made the motion to accept the minutes and Liz Bransfield seconded; all voting members present approved the motion.

The commission did not provide additional funding details or construction phasing at the meeting. Hughes did not spell out funding sources or a contract award timeline; those details were described as pending and are not specified in the minutes.

The commission adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
