The City of Flowood’s Mayor and Board of Aldermen on Jan. 5 approved a consent agenda that bundled multiple financial, project and contract items, including two bond refunding resolutions and a lease-purchase to buy ten Chevrolet Tahoes for the police department.
The board approved a resolution authorizing the sale of taxable general obligation refunding bonds, Series 2015, not to exceed $1,900,000, and a separate resolution authorizing a tax-exempt general obligation refunding bond sale, Series 2015, not to exceed $5,300,000. The minutes state the purpose of both measures as refunding certain outstanding city debt.
The consent package also authorized a lease agreement with BancorpSouth for $384,083.00 at an interest rate of 2.14% over thirty-six months to acquire ten Chevrolet Tahoes for the police department. Other consent items recorded in the minutes included multiple claims dockets (general, supplemental, paid), project claim dockets (Refuge Golf Course, Hogg Creek Project, Wirtz Road Bike Trail, Liberty Park improvements, Langford Water improvements), change order #2 for Delta Constructors (a $3.97 deduction for the Hogg Creek Project), renewal of an annual preventative maintenance agreement for emergency generators ($934.50), an interlocal agreement with Rankin County to participate in debt-service payments tied to previously issued TIF bonds, and an agreement with Taylorsville Water Association regarding sewer service within part of its service area.
Alderman Dusty Rhoads moved to approve the consent agenda; Alderman Kathy Smith seconded. The motion received unanimous approval from the board members present.
Per the minutes, the resolutions and contracts will be executed by the mayor and city clerk as required to implement the actions approved on the consent agenda.
