Marlborough Board of Education members volunteer for MES Building Committee as BOS begins formation

Chairperson Chip Morris told the Board of Education on Jan. 22 that the Board of Selectmen has started the process of establishing a Marlborough Elmer Thienes-Mary Hall Elementary School (MES) Building Committee. The Selectmen will solicit community members to serve on the committee.

Board members Amy Kuhrt and William Guzman volunteered to serve on the MES Building Committee on behalf of the BOE. Superintendent Dr. Holly Hageman said she had provided a draft charge for the committee at the request of the Board of Selectmen and that the Selectmen had begun reviewing that draft. When asked at the BOS meeting, Hageman suggested that the MESBC should begin meeting this spring once it is seated.

The discussion was procedural; no formal BOE vote on the committee formation was recorded at the Jan. 22 meeting. The Selectmen will complete any formal appointments and determine the committee's final charge and schedule.
