The Marlborough Board of Education on Jan. 29 approved a $9,245,184 operating budget for fiscal year 2026–27 and a $210,000 capital improvement request, voting unanimously to adopt the proposals.
The action came after the board continued review of the superintendent’s proposed FY2026–27 budget. Board member Linda Earley moved to approve the operating budget and capital request; Jean Wilson seconded. Chip Morris, participating remotely, registered a yes vote; the motion was recorded as unanimously approved by all present.
The vote follows routine business: the board also approved its consent agenda (minutes of Jan. 22, 2026; personnel actions — none; reports — none) on a motion by Earley seconded by Louise Concodello, with Morris voting remotely and the motion carrying unanimously.
Superintendent Dr. Holly Hageman and administrative staff were present for the meeting; no substantive oral reports or public comments were recorded at the session. The board listed upcoming calendar items, including a Board of Finance meeting for the BOE budget presentation on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at Town Hall.
The meeting opened at 6:32 p.m. and adjourned at 7:15 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Earley, seconded by Jamie Smigel and approved unanimously. The minutes were submitted by Carmela Monte.
