The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors approved routine business and several land-use and transportation items at its May 18 meeting.
The board voted by voice to approve claims and adopt Resolution 2026-27 formalizing payroll actions that include two new hires for the secondary roads department; the transcript lists their effective dates as 5/11/26 and 5/18/26. The clerk’s monthly report of fees was also approved by voice vote.
The board then heard two separate public hearings on zone changes. For the Madden parcel, staff described a proposed re-survey of about 4.97 acres from A1 to A2 to allow the sale of a reestablished parcel B to a neighboring owner; the Board of Zoning Adjustment recommended unanimous approval and staff recommended approval. With no public comment, the board closed the hearing and adopted Resolution 2026-28 by voice vote.
At a second hearing the applicant Dwayne Schlicking requested a re-survey and a change from A1 to A2 for parcel D so the parcel can be sold to a neighboring owner. The board received no public input, closed the hearing and adopted Resolution 2026-29 by voice vote.
The board also authorized final plans and signatures for an asphalt paving project on Thrush covering roughly 6.5 miles from B47 north to the Mason City limits. Staff said the project uses STP federal aid; the board moved to approve the final plan sets and authorized signatures, carrying the motion by voice vote.
Other operational items reported included storm-related tree and power-line outages that briefly closed roads, a large patch scheduled on the B60, ongoing durability patching and preparations for June 1 dust-control work. County roads staff said they would re-sweep locations in the coming week using a contracted sweeper.
