Dallas County supervisors approved multiple construction pay applications and received project updates at their June 2 meeting.
Courthouse renovation: Christopher Orth of Farnsworth Group reported the renovation is about 69% complete, with excavation, waterproofing, framing and finish work in progress including millwork for a new jury courtroom. The board approved Turner's pay application number 14 in the amount of $451,574.35 for work completed through May 31, 2026.
Evidence storage and firing range: Staff said site grading, installation of ballistic baffles, HVAC and electrical rough-in work are underway and the project is approximately 79% complete. The board approved Turner's pay application number 15 in the amount of $1,663,973.88 for work through May 31, 2026; the payment included stored material costs and equipment deliveries associated with the firing range.
Secondary Roads addition and garage: County staff reported the county moved into the facility in late April and most punch-list items are being finalized. The board approved pay application number 18 in the amount of $61,394, and subsequently approved a certificate of substantial completion for that project and authorized the chair to sign.
Contingency and allowance balances were reported for the projects (courthouse contingency remaining $135,483; evidence storage contingency ~$177,559 and allowances ~$276,958; figures presented in the project slides). Supervisors moved and approved each pay application by motion and voice vote at the meeting.
What’s next: staff will continue punch-list work and return with contract amendment requests or reimbursement resolutions as needed; the county will process the approved pay applications for payment.
