Trustees opened the April 23 meeting with special recognitions for the district’s Vanguard community service award winners. Staff introduced dozens of high‑school seniors from multiple campuses, summarizing collective volunteer service totaling 9,362 community service hours and highlighting students’ extracurricular and civic activities.
The board also recognized a $10,000 donation from Robakissner Incorporated — presented by Scott Blank, director of business development — to the Pasadena Education Foundation. Trustees and the audience applauded; the donation was described as earmarked to improve equipment for Special Olympics and adaptive physical‑education needs.
School and district leaders thanked sponsors including Chevron, the Pasadena Refinery, Raising Cane’s and the Pasadena ISD Education Foundation, and invited families and honorees to remain for the business meeting. The recognitions underscored volunteerism across the district and the role of community partners in supporting student programs.
What’s next: The foundation and district will allocate the donation toward adaptive equipment and related student programming as described by the donor and district staff.
