Councilman Shane Martin recommended that the City of Yerington forward $53,246 in Room Tax grant awards to the City Council after presentations from eight local applicants.
The board voted to recommend funding for the following applicants and amounts: Yerington Main Street Car Show (Dini’s Lucky Club) — $15,000; Great Basin Lavender Association — $1,000; Mason Valley Beekeepers — $5,000; Mason Valley Fireworks Committee — $1,046; Yerington Theater for the Arts — $2,500; Yerington Chamber of Commerce — $6,700; Lyon County Fair Board — $7,000; and Night in the Country Music Festival — $15,000. Councilman Martin moved the package, and Member Leah Wilkinson seconded the motion; the board approved the recommendations and will forward them to City Council for possible action on June 22, 2026.
Interim City Manager Jerry Bryant advised the board to hear each applicant before formal action. Presenters described their events and listed specific funding requests: Kathy Dini on behalf of Dini’s Lucky Club sought $15,000 for the Yerington Main Street Car Show; Debbie Gilmore requested $1,000 for the Great Basin Lavender Association and $5,000 for Mason Valley Beekeepers; Roni Stanton requested $1,046 for the Mason Valley Fireworks Committee; Nick Beaton requested $2,500 for the Yerington Theater for the Arts and $15,000 for Night in the Country Music Festival; Melanie Young requested $6,700 for the Yerington Chamber of Commerce; and Lisa Tibbals requested $7,000 for the Lyon County Fair Board.
Board members disclosed conflicts as required: Member Sylvia Banta abstained from discussion and voting on the Dini’s Lucky Club request (item A). Member Vinnie Arrighi disclosed that items E (Yerington Theater for the Arts) and H (Night in the Country Music Festival) involved a client of his and abstained from those items. The meeting record shows no opposed votes on the package; abstentions were applied to specific items as noted.
Member Ted Rudolph made and Member Leah Wilkinson seconded earlier procedural motions to approve the agenda and prior minutes. Member Leah Wilkinson thanked Interim City Manager Jerry Bryant for preparing the meeting materials.
The board’s recommendation package will be placed on the City Council agenda for possible action on June 22, 2026. No public comments were made during the meeting.
