Board members raised concerns about the pace and information available for a proposed third‑party solar project that includes potential roof work.
One board member said the July 1 decision deadline made the proposal feel rushed for a project that could span several years and involve substantial upfront costs. "I didn't feel comfortable with such a rush and presenting my board with such a rush on a project that could be huge," the board member said.
Members asked staff to work with the contractor to obtain clearer data on projected energy‑cost savings, verify assumptions with comparable installations at similar facilities and provide additional contractual details before the board considers committing. The superintendent said he would continue working with the contractor over the summer and return with more information; if the district misses a July 1 deadline, the superintendent said there may be other opportunities later.
No final decision or contract approval was taken at the work session; members instead asked for more precise cost and savings information.
