The Board of Aldermen paused its regular business June 5 to adopt Resolution No. 37 honoring Raymond B. Flojo for more than two decades of service with the city counselor s office.
The clerk read the resolution aloud, citing Flojo s degrees from Truman State University and Saint Louis University School of Law and his legal work with city agencies, administrative boards and courts. "We pause in our deliberations to recognize and honor the work of Raymond B. Flojo," the reading stated.
An alderman representing the 5th Ward praised Flojo s professionalism and recounted working with him during law school and in opposing benches in litigation. "Ray truly represented what it means to be in the city service," the alderman said, noting Flojo s reputation across the legal community.
Flojo, who was identified in the record by name, accepted the recognition and thanked the board. "I am honored and humbled," he said, recounting that he joined the city counselor's office in 2005 and recently moved to private practice about six weeks earlier. He also thanked supervisors and mentors, including Christine Hodzic.
An alderwoman moved the resolution and a second was recorded; the clerk called the roll and the board voted to bank the resolution on the courtesy calendar. The clerk directed that a commemorative copy be prepared by the office of the city counselor.
The board moved on to other items after the brief presentation and photo opportunity for honorees.
