Staff previews zoning‑ordinance rewrite; Sustainability Commission wins youth climate grant

Planning staff told the Minnetonka Planning Commission on June 4 that zoning‑ordinance rewrite work groups recently reviewed draft sections with a consultant and that those draft sections are posted on Minnetonka Matters for review. Staff said the rewrite work groups (staff and community groups) will reconvene at the end of June and that public engagement on the full draft will open mid‑summer.

Staff also reminded commissioners of the annual boards & commissions tour scheduled for July 30 and noted that specific invitations and an agenda will follow. The commission’s next regular meeting was announced as June 18.

During commissioners’ reports, Commissioner Sher said the Sustainability Commission received a $50,000 Youth Climate Action Fund grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to award to youth climate projects; she also noted openings for youth commissioners and an upcoming watershed district meeting in St. Paul.
