Goshen approves month-long Chicago Avenue closure for water-service replacements

The Goshen City Board of Public Works and Safety on June 4 approved a long-term closure of Chicago Avenue between Pike Street/US Highway 33 and Indiana Avenue from June 8 through July 2, 2026 to allow replacement of galvanized water services as part of the North Goshen service line replacement and utility improvements project.

An engineering department representative presented job number 20240029 and said Diblock Excavating requested the closure and that work would proceed with rolling full closures and appropriate traffic control devices. The board moved to approve the closure and voted unanimously.

The engineering representative said the closure will be staged so crews work segment-by-segment and reopen lanes as work progresses.
