Cemetery staff told the board they are pursuing preliminary plans to add a columbarium and small commemorative garden at West Goshen, modeled on a 2017 installation at Violet that includes several niche structures.
S2 described possibilities ranging from a standalone columbarium to a compact garden with niches, ground burial for cremations and a scattering area. He said the 2017 Violet Garden contains four structures with roughly 32 niches each, and that West Goshen might aim for a target of about 100 niches, though current cremation demand at West Goshen is limited.
Funding and timing remain uncertain: S2 said the project is in the capital improvement plan for the coming year but did not present finalized budget numbers. He said staff will continue to study design and placement and noted that different arrangements of niches and walkways can make more efficient use of space.
No formal vote was taken; staff said they will revisit the concept during summer planning and as the capital-improvement process moves forward.
