The Planning and Zoning Commission on June 4 recommended approval of a plan of survey to create two parcels affecting 309 5th Avenue Southwest and 602 3rd Street Southwest and to place the existing garage and driveway fully on the Leisinger property.
Staff explained that a driveway currently runs from 5th Avenue to a garage structure that sits partly on two titles. The proposed survey would relocate the garage and driveway onto a single parcel so the two properties’ titles are clear. Staff added a small rear building is in poor condition and would not be replaced when removed.
A resident, Paul Plattie, spoke for his family and said the garage has been shared between the properties for decades. "We just...we just wanna clear it up," Plattie said, explaining a purchase agreement was part of the property transfer. A commissioner asked whether the small rear building would remain; staff said it would not be replaced immediately and plans for removal could be handled later.
A commissioner moved that the commission recommend approval of the plan of survey to place the garage on the Weiser/Leisinger property; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded. The recommendation will be forwarded to the appropriate board for final action.
