The Parma City School District recognized several classified employees retiring this year during its June 4 board meeting.
Dr. Hunt and Mr. Hoy led the recognitions and invited each retiree to be named and thanked for years of service. Remarks highlighted long tenures and specific roles: Jerry Amato (with the district since 1999, described as a long‑time custodian and familiar presence at Densler), Cheryl Kenist (who served in multiple clerical and monitoring roles across district sites), John and Loretta Kovatch (transportation driver and monitor), Fran Lacatiso (media assistant since 1992), Kathy Lions (22 years of service in cafeterias and as a hall monitor), and Sheila Alman (front‑door monitor and clerk at several sites). Speakers praised the retirees’ dedication, relationships with students and staff, and positive impact on school communities.
Board members and administrators thanked each employee for their service and wished them well in retirement. The recognitions were ceremonial; the board’s human resources agenda later accepted certified and classified retirements formally under Resolution 2026‑06‑274 (certified) and 2026‑06‑276 (classified).
