The Ashland County Finance Committee voted to forward a motion to the county board asking approval to use up to $50,000 from opioid-related funds to cover transitional-housing costs that exceeded a prior grant allocation.
Sheriff's office staff said the CDBG/transitional-housing grant had been fully expended by the end of March and additional room-and-board expenses between April and year-end would otherwise come from levy funds. The committee agreed to place a motion on the county board agenda to approve up to $50,000 to cover those overages, allowing staff to continue the program while preserving other budgets.
Clarence Campell moved the motion and Dick Pufall seconded. The motion passed and was recorded with one member stating "I opposed," though the roll-call name of the dissenting vote was not recorded in the meeting transcript. The committee instructed staff to include that request on the county board agenda for the next board meeting.
