At its Jan. 2 reorganization meeting the Colts Neck Township Committee moved to confirm a slate of township professionals under Resolution 2026‑1 and then adopted a 27‑item consent agenda (resolutions 2026‑2 through 2026‑27) by roll call.
During the professionals' roll call, Committeeman Tabia expressed concern that he had not been consulted about the selections and said he lacked access to some requested spreadsheets until they were later provided by the administrator. Tabia said he would vote yes on professionals numbered 4, 5, 11, 12 and 15, abstain on the remaining appointments he had not reviewed, and vote no on number 7 (affordable‑housing attorney Thomas Trautner), stating, "I do not believe that our interests were properly litigated or properly represented on this township."
The clerk completed a roll call and the resolution was adopted; the consent agenda of 27 routine items was also adopted by roll call. During the meeting the mayor also announced liaison assignments and recommended appointments to volunteer boards and commissions, naming planning‑board class members, board of adjustment members, recreation committee and others.
Tabia's public explanation for abstentions and his no vote on the affordable‑housing attorney was recorded during the roll call and debate on the professionals' appointments; no separate motion to remove any appointment was taken at the meeting.
