Plainville council approves $350 donation for 'America 250' library celebration and signs off on two special-event permits

Council members discussed a library request for modest city support of an "America 250" celebration planned for July 1. The request included a $350 donation, asking for council presence at the event and help moving picnic tables from the park to the library front.

Separately, the council considered two special-event applications: the Plainville Saddle Club (June 12–13) and a downtown street dance on June 13 from 6 p.m. to midnight. The council approved both permits on a single motion and voice vote. Members briefly queried whether alcohol service at the downtown event would trigger additional state or municipal approvals; staff noted regulatory requirements but no additional action was taken at the meeting.
