At the June 2 meeting the Thompson Board of Selectmen approved several routine but time‑sensitive items: a request from the American 250 committee to close Chase Road extension on July 8, 2026 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a nationwide reading of the Declaration of Independence; the board voted unanimously to grant the closure with emergency management coordination.
The board also voted to appoint Alex Murphy as the Transfer Station Advisory Committee alternate after reviewing his letter and application. The motion to appoint was made, seconded and passed unanimously.
The board read and accepted a resignation from Liz Rocker, the library circulation supervisor, effective June 3, 2026, and thanked the library staff for their service. Earlier in the meeting the board amended the agenda to add the revised referendum advertisement; that amendment and the advertisement were approved by voice vote.
A resident also reported planning for a veterans float and participation in the July 4 parade, noting Mark Provos & Sons of Landscaping is providing equipment and volunteers are recruiting veterans to participate. The board closed the meeting at 7:57 p.m.
