The Lower Marian finance committee on June 3 recommended three items to the full board: awarding a contract for River Road culvert repair, awarding a contract to replace the Ardmore pump station generator, and reappointing Matthew Taylor to serve as a pension trustee for a three-year term.
Chief Financial Officer Adam Chumsky briefed the committee on the culvert project, saying the work replaces a corrugated metal culvert beneath River Road that repeatedly clogs with rocks and debris. Staff described the replacement as a box-culvert installation that will increase capacity, improve access and reinforce downstream piping. Chumsky said staff are recommending award to Jurich, Inc. based on bids received May 21, 2026; the transcript records the low bid as $320,217 and states the project is 100% grant-funded through FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program.
On the Ardmore pump station project, staff recommended awarding a contract to AIM Electric, Inc. to replace the existing indoor generator with an outdoor unit and to modify ventilation (double-hung windows) at the pump facility. Chumsky said the apparent low bid was $249,570, about 4% over the construction budget, and that the contractor has performed similar work for the township.
For the pension board, the committee recommended reappointing Matthew Taylor for a three-year term through June 2029. Staff noted the township benefits from volunteer trustees with financial expertise and stated the two pension funds combined are worth roughly $350 million.
Each committee recommendation was approved without recorded opposition and was referred to the special board meeting where the referrals were adopted by the board later the same evening.
